what is counted here, and what is kept
In English
In short
This site uses no tracking cookies and shows no banner. It counts visits in a way that can’t tell who you are: no cookie, nothing kept on your device, and your IP address shortened the moment it reaches the counter, which then forgets it. If you sign up for the online practice, the form keeps what you type into it, as explained below.
Who is responsible
The controller is Alexandre Montagna. For any question about your data, write to alex@sapiens.bio.
What is counted, and how
Every page loads a small counter from bussola.company, the studio of the same controller. It sends a short message when you open a page, one each time the page is hidden or left (you switch tab, you close it), and one when you sign up for the online practice or tap WhatsApp, Instagram or the email address. They carry: the page’s address on this site, a random code made for each page you open (only to match its messages), the name of the site you came from (google.com, say, not the page), the campaign tags of the link if it has any, whether you use a phone, a tablet or a computer, how long the page stayed in view, and which of those actions you took, never your name, the number, the address or the text of a message. From the request itself the server works out your country, browser, operating system and browser language.
The server removes the last part of your IP address right away, determines your country from it, and, together with your browser’s identification, turns it into a fingerprint (a keyed hash, which can’t be reversed) that is valid for today only: it tells which pages belong to the same visit, not who you are. The key changes every night and the old one is deleted: the address can’t be recovered from the fingerprint, and I don’t recognize you from one day to the next.
While the details exist, that is during the day, only I, signed in to a private page, can see today’s visits one by one, with times rounded to 5 minutes: the pages and how many seconds each stayed in view, where the visit came from (the site it came from and the link’s campaign tags, if it has any, as they are written in the link), the kind of device, the actions, and which of the day’s visits belong to the same person; the country, browser, system and language only if at least five different people came that day. Never the visitor’s name, address or fingerprint. At the end of each day the details become totals (how many people, which pages, from where) and are deleted, within 48 hours at the latest. Only the totals remain, for 25 months, on a private page of the studio’s server that needs a login. That server, bussola.company, is hosted by Hostinger, which handles them on my behalf. No other service receives this data, and I don’t combine it with anything else, not even with the signup list. Like any web host, it may also keep its own technical logs of the requests it receives, under its own policy: the counter doesn’t read them.
The Italian data protection authority treats statistics like these as technical cookies, which need no consent, when they are aggregate, cover a single site, mask the IP address, and don’t allow anyone to be singled out (Garante, guidelines on cookies and other tracking tools, June 10, 2021, § 7.2): that is why this site shows you no banner.
I don’t count people whose browser asks not to be tracked (Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track), automated programs, or anyone who chooses with the switch at the top of this page not to be counted. Without JavaScript, visits are not counted. The legal basis is my legitimate interest in knowing how the site is used (GDPR art. 6(1)(f)).
The online signup
If you join the list on the online practice page, the form sends your name, your email address, the topics you ticked, your browser’s language (for example it-IT) and a label saying the request comes from this form (sapiens.yoga/online) to a database service, Supabase. The list keeps them with the date and time of your signup, and with a fingerprint of your IP address (a hash of the address, not the address itself). The fingerprint stays with your signup, and it is only used to limit how many times one address can sign up in a day. Only the signup function writes to the list, and the website itself cannot read it back. The form also has a hidden field that people never see: if something is typed in it, the request is dropped and nothing is stored.
I use your name and email only to write to you about lessons, workshops and restarts; the form itself sends no email. You stay on the list until you ask to leave it: reply to one of my emails or write to alex@sapiens.bio, and I take you off. The legal basis is your consent, which you give by signing up and can withdraw at any time (GDPR art. 6(1)(a)).
Paying with Stripe
If you pay for a package on the online practice page, the payment happens on Stripe’s own page, which opens in a new tab. Stripe processes it under its privacy policy.
Cookies and your device
This site sets no cookies, and keeps nothing on your device except a choice you make yourself: not being counted, saved in your browser’s local storage under the name «bussola-stats». It stays in your browser and is sent to nobody. Fonts, images and scripts come from this site, except the counter, which comes from bussola.company. The network of that host may set a technical cookie of its own on its requests; the counter sets none.
The pages are served by GitHub Pages, which, as the host, receives your browser’s requests; what it keeps is governed by GitHub’s own privacy statement. The same goes for Supabase, the database service that stores the signup list: like any such service, it may keep technical logs of the requests it receives (address, date and time), under its own policy. For where and how each of them processes data, see its notice, linked above.
Your rights
You can ask me at any time to see, correct or delete your data, to restrict its use, to object to its processing and to receive it in a readable format (GDPR articles 15 to 22): write to alex@sapiens.bio. You can object to the visit statistics at any time, with the switch at the top of this page or with your browser’s Global Privacy Control setting. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Italian data protection authority, the Garante per la protezione dei dati personali.

In breve
I tuoi diritti
